Network Plant Engineer (ISP/OSP)
Deploy your senior-level expertise overseas to lead infrastructure modernization across U.S. Air Force bases in the Indo-Pacific. As the Senior Network Plant Engineer, you’ll oversee multi-site OSP/ISP survey, design, and implementation activities, coordinating directly with field teams and base leadership to ensure the safe, standards-compliant deployment of fiber, copper, and power systems.
You will lead engineering plan development, validate circuit performance, and ensure seamless infrastructure integration into mission systems.
This role is critical to delivering reliable communications environments that support operations in forward‑deployed, high‑readiness installations.
Responsibilities- Survey, design, and implementation of physical fiber and copper cable plants, power connections (in coordination with licensed electricians), conduits, patch panels, butterfly diagrams.
- Oversee restoration of facilities to pre‑install or better conditions.
- Work on telecommunication projects of varying size, scope, complexity, and location and support preliminary development of the SPRIP.
- Participate in and/or attend site surveys and document current site ISP/OSP configurations.
- Support the design and optimization of the supporting infrastructure in support of the SPRIP.
- Develop SDPs and Final SPRIP.
- Perform circuit testing for voltage, amperage, continuity, and safety after installation and adjust as needed.
- Understand and follow all applicable standards (i.e., the National Electrical Code).
- Assist in providing an IUID Marking Plan and a procurement LOM.
- Oversee and support deployment teams for survey, installation, testing, and QA activities.
- Oversee pre‑implementation coordination activities.
- Direct and lead development of engineering implementation plans and project drawings IAW USG and industry standards.
- Perform quality checks and support safe work environments.
- Identify and resolve complex project problems to reduce project and program risks.
- Conduct systems pre‑tests and acceptance tests to validate the designed performance criteria.
- Ensure installations are performed within safety standards and work site conditions (cleanliness), including restoration of the site to original or better condition.
- Supervise ISP/OSP Engineers or subcontractors.
- Plan and lead major technology assignments, including developing project initiation documentation for DAF BIM TOs.
- Evaluate performance results and recommend major changes affecting short‑term project growth and success.
- Function as a technical expert across multiple project assignments.
Required:
- Active Secret Clearance
- 7 years as Network Plant Engineer supporting ISP/OSP solutions on large, complex networks + a technical bachelor degree
- Additional directly applicable experience may be considered with an associate degree or high school diploma
- Minimum of 2 years managing/leading ISP/OSP modernization projects
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, AutoCAD)
- Experience supporting DoD projects, specifically network modernization projects
