Southwest Eye Care is hiring for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Ophthalmic Technician at our Glencoe and Hutchinson location.
Job SummaryResponsible for providing relationship-based eye care and outstanding customer service. Performs duties included but not limited to patient work ups, ancillary testing, assist in procedures, assist in Refractive Surgery, ordering all ophthalmic supplies, and instrument sterilization. Starting pay range for this position is $24-25 per hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist Ophthalmologist during clinic times by taking patient health histories, visual acuities, perform ancillary testing as requested by the ophthalmologist.
- Assist Ophthalmologist during procedures including LASIK/PRK, Injections, Corneal Crosslinking, Lid procedures.
- Prep exam rooms for clinic and close down rooms after clinic. Maintain exam room needs.
- Prep procedure rooms, sterilize equipment, clean, and reprocess procedure room. Maintain procedure room needs.
- Prepare charts for all clinic visits, procedures, and surgeries.
- Other duties include scanning paperwork for patient charts, triaging patients, coordinating medication refills with pharmacy. Compile IOL lens orders and submit to supplier and hospitals/ASC as needed.
- Assist in Research Studies as needed including application completion and transitioning duties to Research Coordinator.
- Secondary responsibilities when Optometric clinic is short-staffed include: assist Optometrist during clinic times by taking patient health histories, visual acuities, I&R Classes, and ancillary testing as requested by Optometrist.
- Travel to other offices required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision. - Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.
- Knowledge of ophthalmology clinic procedures.
- Knowledge of Refractive Surgery and Laser operations.
- Detail-oriented.
- Three years related Technician experience.
- COA certification required.
