JOB SUMMARY:
- The Behavioral Health Therapist provides mental health assessment, diagnosis, and therapy services for patients across the lifespan. This position delivers evidence-based therapeutic interventions, supports integrated behavioral health workflows within the clinic setting, and collaborates with medical and nursing staff to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The therapist plays a key role in improving behavioral health access for the community and supporting the overall mission of Johnson Memorial Health Services.
This position will be scheduled Monday - Friday and have the option of .8 - 1.0 FTE.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
- Provide individual, family, and/or group therapy within scope of practice.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Collaborate with Behavioral Health providers, primary care clinicians, nursing, and support staff to coordinate care.
- Participate in integrated care strategies, including warm hand-offs and care coordination with medical providers.
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.
- Refer patients to higher levels of care, community resources, or specialty services when appropriate.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, staff meetings, and quality improvement activities.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies and regulations.
- Engage in continuing education to maintain licensure and stay current on best practices.
- Contribute to behavioral health program development, outreach activities, and community education when requested.
- Help others succeed.

- Is knowledgeable of patient and resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all patients and residents in a safe, secure environment.
- Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:
- Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
- Confidentiality of all data, including patient, resident, employee, and operations data.
- Quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from any sort of harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
- Supports and participates in common teamwork:
- Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction including appropriate judgment.
- Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
- Follow up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers, patients, or residents regarding reported complaints, problems, and/or concerns.
- Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family members and guests.
- Completes requirements for in-service and annual training, acceptable attendance, uniform dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
Required:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field.
- Current Minnesota licensure, or eligibility for Minnesota licensure as one of the following:
- LICSW – Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, or
- LPCC – Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or
- LMFT – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
- Ability to diagnose and treat mental health disorders within an independent scope of practice.
Preferred:
- 1-2 years of clinical therapy experience in outpatient, integrated, or community-based settings.
- Experience with rural healthcare, crisis intervention, or multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and telehealth delivery models.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, families, or geriatric populations (based on organizational need).
