The Business Systems Analyst contributes to or leads the analysis, planning, logical design, and maintenance of software applications. The role involves requirements gathering, coordinating with Operations, Accounting, vendors, contract workers, other service providers, and the Information Systems staff to ensure end‑user needs are met.
Responsibilities- Analyze user and business requirements, generating alternatives and working with internal and external customers.
- Consult with stakeholders on specific domains (e.g., operations) and Net Suite solutions.
- Lead or mentor other Business Systems Analysts.
- Participate in product/project planning, monitoring, and schedule maintenance.
- Document enhancement requests, defects, and requirements to maintain traceability.
- Research and solicit user/business needs that can be met with software solutions.
- Lead or contribute to the generation of software‑based solutions, including eliciting and documenting software solution requirements, establishing solution approaches, and creating artifacts such as Software Requirements Specifications, Functional Specifications, Use Cases, data flows, and user acceptance testing requirements.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Communicate product information through appropriate artifacts and work marks (use cases, diagrams, etc.).
- Collaborate across departments, including operations, engineering, IT, and quality assurance, to resolve critical issues.
- Promote and enhance Business Systems Analysis processes, moderating formal review sessions and sharing insights with peers.
- Work cooperatively to accomplish company, division, department, and project objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations, or related business fields, or equivalent work experience.
- Four or more years of experience in a technical role focused on operations, engineering, or business systems analysis.
- Preferred:
Four or more years of responsibility in manufacturing. - Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in requirements gathering and documentation tools (e.g., MS Word, Visio).
- Excellent ERP knowledge; experience with Net Suite is preferred.
- Listening skills to understand and detect stakeholder hesitations.
- Ability to explain the role of a Business Systems Analyst to other members of the organization.
- Positive professional image when interacting with internal and external customers.
This position works primarily at a desk using office equipment. Occasionally, testing and troubleshooting may be performed on the factory floor.
