Individual Life & Health Insurance Customer Service Representative

Position Overview:

This role is responsible for providing exceptional service and support to policy holders, agents, and internal departments regarding individual life and health insurance policies, and a commitment to helping customers navigate their insurance needs efficiently and empathetically.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to inbound calls, emails, and written correspondence from policy holders, agents, and third parties regarding individual life and health insurance policies.
• Provide information and support on policy status, claims, billing inquiries, coverage details, and policy changes.
• Process policy updates such as address changes, beneficiary updates, and payment modifications accurately and timely.
• Educate customers on policy features, benefits, and procedures to ensure clear understanding.
• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and billing departments to resolve complex issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Document customer interactions and maintain detailed records in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Stay current on product offerings, regulatory changes, and company procedures to provide accurate information and service.
• Participate in training and development programs to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required;
  Associates or Bachelor’s Degree a plus
• Active Minnesota Life & Health Insurance License, or the willingness to obtain the license within 90 days of employment
• Minimum 1-2 years of customer service experience in the insurance industry, preferably with life and health products.
• Familiarity with insurance terminology, policy administration systems, and regulatory requirements
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with Applied Epic preferred; will consider other agency management systems
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
• Ability to pass a criminal background check as permitted by law

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm
