Individual Life & Health Insurance Customer Service Representative
Position Overview:
This role is responsible for providing exceptional service and support to policy holders, agents, and internal departments regarding individual life and health insurance policies, and a commitment to helping customers navigate their insurance needs efficiently and empathetically.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to inbound calls, emails, and written correspondence from policy holders, agents, and third parties regarding individual life and health insurance policies.
- Provide information and support on policy status, claims, billing inquiries, coverage details, and policy changes.
- Process policy updates such as address changes, beneficiary updates, and payment modifications accurately and timely.
- Educate customers on policy features, benefits, and procedures to ensure clear understanding.
- Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and billing departments to resolve complex issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Document customer interactions and maintain detailed records in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Stay current on product offerings, regulatory changes, and company procedures to provide accurate information and service.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required;
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree a plus - Active Minnesota Life & Health Insurance License, or the willingness to obtain the license within 90 days of employment
- Minimum 1-2 years of customer service experience in the insurance industry, preferably with life and health products.
- Familiarity with insurance terminology, policy administration systems, and regulatory requirements
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Applied Epic preferred; will consider other agency management systems
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Ability to pass a criminal background check as permitted by law
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm
