Position Title: Part Time-Adult Ministries and Pastoral Care Director

    Summary: Leadership and oversight of Adults and Family Ministry (Post High school and beyond) that leads to life transformation for the glory of God.

  • Genuine passion for the Gospel, with a heart oriented to mission and outreach.
  • Excellent bible-based teaching, and communication.
  • Appreciation and alignment with Lutheran Theology and doctrine.
  • Understands the importance of continuing to move HLC toward their identified ministry mission and vision.
  • Openness to trying new things, experimenting with new models and methods of ministry.
  • Awareness of spiritual gifts, strengths and weaknesses.
  • Experience in innovation, trial and error, success and failure.
  • Humble, teachable and desire to continue learning.
  • Provide a partnership with the Lead Pastor in implementing the mission, vision, and direction across the life stages.
Essential Job Functions

Adult Ministry (Post High School) - Leads and Facilitates

  • Recruit, develop and build relationships to encourage members of HLC to participate in all ministry areas
  • Develop and support opportunities that create meaningful faith connections across the faith community
  • Assess, evaluate and develop adult ministry strategy consistent with HLC mission and vision
  • Implement and supervise adult ministry strategy consistent with HLC mission and vision
  • Lead adult ministry opportunities consistent with HLC mission and vision
  • Develop and implement ministry, focusing on cross-generational opportunities
  • Create new opportunities for adult retreats and missions that focus on spiritual growth and lifelong faith
  • Coordinate Adult Bible studies
  • Develop and build relationships/networks with more missional jobs in the area
  • Work with Outreach to develop more missional events at HLC
Lifestage/General Ministry
  • Anticipates and assists in preparing the administrative needs of Lifestage Ministry
  • Provides leadership during worship services (reading, worship assisting, sacraments)
  • Participates in worship leadership (music/tech/etc.) if desired
  • Serves as a support and colleague to Pastor in spiritual development of Christian Life Cycle
  • Preside over baptism, weddings and funerals as appropriate.
  • Provides pastoral care and visitation, as appropriate
  • Works closely with pastor and leadership teams in development of event calendar
  • Monitors budget for related programs and prepares recommendation with Pastor/Council leadership
  • Partners and collaborates with New Discipleship-organizing networks and follow up with new members
  • Serves as a ministry colleague and spiritual partner to Pastor and Kid’s and Family Ministry Director

Meeting Expectations

  • Attend Befrienders meetings
  • Partners and collaborate with New Discipleship-go to these meetings

  • One on one meetings with Lead Pastor
  • Other teams within church as needed
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated faith and personal discipleship
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of and willingness to learn necessary tech, programs and applications for ministry
  • Planning Center, Pro Presenter, Orange Dropbox, Canva, etc.
  • Demonstrated capacity for managing multiple projects for multiple constituencies
  • Ability to collaborate well in cross-functional teams and projects across the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills in working with different personalities and leadership styles
Education Requirements
  • Degree in Ministry or similar field, or commensurate experience
  • Commitment to Continuing Education or training in the field
