The Nursing Assistant (NA) is a caregiver who provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of an RN. The NA assists with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital signs, transfer, mobility, range‑of‑motion exercises, food preparation and dining, housekeeping, and wellness programs. The NA documents resident interactions, communicates changes in condition, collects non‑invasive specimens, and may participate in departmental committees.
Qualifications- High school graduate or GED, preferred but not required.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of start, through training offered by the facility.
- Completion of yearly competency testing and a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually.
- Valid driver’s license if required for Sanford Category II Driver responsibilities.
- Medically qualified to perform essential driving functions if applicable.
