Responsibilities- Provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
- Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles and uses appropriate age and population specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per care plan.
- Performs testing to evaluate data reflecting resident status and provides needed care.
- Recognizes problems, recommends solutions and responds effectively to assist in an emergent situation.
- Ensures the health, comfort and safety of residents; contributes to assessment, administers medications and treatments as ordered.
- Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed; documents resident interactions and outcomes.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public.
- Communicates clearly, maintains confidentiality, and advises residents and families under the direction of a registered nurse or physician.
- Knowledge of resident education principles to develop a self‑care program; performs other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse; associate degree preferred.
- For positions requiring IV therapy, North Dakota requires graduation from a Board‑approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an approved IV therapy course.
- Attend a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span or have a minimum of 400 hours LPN experience at another facility.
- Currently hold an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse license with the state nursing board and/or possess multi‑state licensure privileges.
- Obtain and maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications; complete required annual continuing education units and competency training requirements.
