Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN Nurse Residency Program is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. The current sites included in this accreditation with distinction designation are Saint Mary's Campus, Rochester Methodist Campus, Mayo Building & Gonda Building.

The current practice settings included in this accreditation with distinction designation are Medical-Surgical, Oncology, Step Down, Critical Care, NICU, Pediatrics, PICU, OR, PACU, Same Day/Ambulatory Procedure, Psychiatric, Rehabilitation, & Ambulatory. Our program brings together newly licensed Registered Nurses from across the country in the first year of their career and offers the experience to become a well-rounded, fully competent Registered Nurse.

The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.

Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
