Description: This position will support the Grand Portage Band's Natural Resources Management Department in the continued development and maintenance of Tribal fisheries and wildlife programs. The position focuses on subsistence species important to Tribal members, as well as predators that influence those populations. The Biologist(s) will assist in the design, coordination, and implementation of both field and analytical components of resource management programs, with frequent cross-disciplinary collaboration between fisheries and wildlife projects.
Primary duties: Leading or assisting in field surveys, capture and monitoring of target species, data management and analysis, and reporting results that inform long-term conservation and subsistence management goals.
Education: Master’s degree in a biological field OR Bachelor’s in a biological field and 4+ years related experience.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a strong background in field biology, crew management, data analysis, and project coordination, as well as the ability to work independently in remote northern Minnesota environments. Fieldwork may involve extended days, variable weather and irregular hours.
