The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Parks and Trails is seeking to fill multiple Buildings and Grounds tested positions to provide seasonal maintenance, security, and construction support across the Northeast region. The anticipated season is April through October, though dates may shift based on agency need and contractual Editors. Work hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities- Park Maintenance – Basic and regular maintenance of park infrastructure (cleaning, mowing, general repairs, improvement of natural resources).
Typical schedule:
weekdays, weekends, and holidays. - Park Maintenance and Night Security – Same duties as Park Maintenance plus nighttime security to protect visitors, property, and resources.

weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays. - Trail Maintenance – Maintenance of state trails, public water access points, fishing piers, and water trails across multiple counties. Responsibilities include cleaning, litter removal, basic infrastructure repair, mowing, and natural resource improvement. Schedules: weekdays with weekends and holidays off.
- Maintain and repair building, facilities, and trail infrastructure (cleaning boat ramps, fixing fixtures, disposing of waste, painting, replacing parts, activating/deactivating water systems).
- Grounds maintenance: mowing, trimming, weed control, planting, tree care, road repairs, trail grooming, working on water and sewer systems, seasonal snow removal, supporting prescribed burn, and other stewardship projects.
- Equipment inspection and maintenance: routine maintenance and minor repairs on small engines, vehicles, hand and power tools, and other equipment, reporting use and repairs.
- Manage work tasks effectively and work independently with limited supervision, emphasizing customer service and safety.
- Work effectively in a team setting to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
- Communicate policies and procedures clearly and professionally to staff and the public.
- Solve routine maintenance situations with good judgement.

- Unrestricted Class D driver’s license with a clean driving record; applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
