Public Works Worker (part-time, year-round)

The part-time Public Works Worker performs tasks for the improvement of the park users experience and the visual improvement of the City of Waite Park. This position requires manual labor and routine equipment operation for grounds and facility related maintenance. Duties include but not limited to: mowing, cleaning/upkeep of facilities, snow removal and trash collection.

• mowing and weed whipping, spraying weeds, picking up brush and debris
• trimming trees, plants and shrubs
• installing and maintaining landscaping
• snow removal and ice control
• Trash and litter collection
• Assist full-time staff on special projects or repairs on the buildings, streets, drainage, storm and sanitary sewer systems.
• Operate small hand tools to upkeep buildings, parks and park facilities.
• This position will also operate a non-commercial city truck and use a variety of hand tools and small repair equipment.

• 18 years of age or older
• Must have a valid MN Driver’s license and a good driving record
• Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather
• Must be self-motivated

Physical demands require walking, standing, stooping, sitting and the ability to lift 40 pounds occasionally.

This position is a year around position and will work 40 hours a week for 25 weeks of the year and 14 hours per week for the other 27 weeks of the year. Employment offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation and drug/alcohol screening.
