Job Overview

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and to report the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only, though about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

• Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
• Make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in an app.
• Spend extended periods driving within the assigned territory.
• Meet the requirement that most common inspections take 5‑6 minutes.

• Computer with internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate; rates vary based on county and volume. While paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on county size and urban/rural status, you will complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates, higher volume counties have lower rates.

There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
