We are a full-line Bobcat and XCMG dealer serving customers across Minnesota and Northern Iowa. The Compact Equipment Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining compact construction and agricultural equipment, including skid‑steer loaders, mini excavators, utility vehicles, and compact tractors. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a commitment to quality workmanship, and the ability to work efficiently both in the shop and in the field.
The ideal candidate takes pride in delivering dependable service that keeps customer equipment running at peak performance.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair compact construction and agricultural equipment, including diesel and gas engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and adjustments on Bobcat, XCMG, and related equipment.
- Operate diagnostic tools, software, and online service resources to identify and resolve issues accurately.
- Communicate effectively with Service Writers, Parts Department, and customers to ensure clear understanding of repair needs and timelines.
- Complete all service documentation and repair orders promptly and accurately.
- Maintain certifications and participate in ongoing Bobcat and XCMG training programs.
- Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Support the service team by assisting with machine setup, pre‑delivery inspections, and warranty repairs as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification in diesel, construction, or agricultural equipment repair preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience working on compact or light construction equipment.
- Experience with Bobcat, XCMG, or similar brands strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools, service software, and electronic troubleshooting systems.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to interpret repair manuals, schematics, and technical bulletins.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
- Capable of working independently or collaboratively as part of a service team.
- Basic computer proficiency, including service documentation and email communication.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Work performed primarily in a shop setting, with occasional fieldwork or customer‑site service calls.
- Regular exposure to machinery, noise, lubricants, and weather elements.
- Requires lifting up to 75 lbs and using heavy tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet customer needs.
