Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and passionate Youth Wrestling Coach to lead our youth sports wrestling program. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of wrestling fundamentals, the ability to teach young athletes, and a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive environment. This role involves planning and conducting practice sessions, developing players’ skills, and instilling values of sportsmanship and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions focusing on skill development, mat strategies, and physical conditioning.
- Teach wrestling fundamentals, including proper techniques.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture.
- Manage team logistics, including scheduling practices, matches, and transportation.
- Monitor and evaluate player progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
- Ensure all players understand and adhere to the rules and regulations of the sport.
- Maintain inventory of equipment and ensure it is in good condition.
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and the athletic department.
- Foster academic success and personal growth in student‑athletes.
- Uphold the school’s values and ensure the well‑being and safety of all team members.
Administrative and Communication Duties
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and the athletic department regarding schedules, expectations, and team needs under the direction of the head coach.
- Manage the wrestling rosters, attendance, schedule, and budget, including ordering uniforms, equipment, and supplies under the direction of the head coach.
- Understanding of Google Suite for administrative duties is preferred.
- Uphold school student and athletic policies.
Working Conditions
- Must be available for after‑school practices, evening games, and occasional weekend events.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions during indoor events.
- Physical ability to demonstrate techniques and participate in physical activities.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of wrestling fundamentals and techniques.
- Previous coaching experience, preferably with high school/junior high athletes/youth athletes.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student‑athletes.
- Commitment to promoting academic achievement and personal growth.
- First aid/CPR certification preferred.
