School Bus Drivers (1-2 regular route drivers +subs)
Aitkin Public Schools is seeking reliable and dedicated persons to join our school bus garage
family. We have positions for regular route drivers, substitute drivers, and/or extra-curricular
drivers. School bus driving is a great opportunity for retirees, farmers, or stay-at-parents who
don’t want the restrictions of a full-time job.

Route times can vary, but are roughly 6:00am
- 8:30am and 2:30pm-5:00pm with opportunities to mid-day and weekend activities. Extra
- curricular times depend upon the activity, but are distributed with your availability in mind.

Rate of pay starts at $23.33 for routes and $18.74 for extra-curricular trips.

Primary duties include:
The safe operation and transportation of students by adhering to and keeping up with all traffic
laws and regulations.
Maintaining a safe and clean work place by conducting Pre-Trip inspections and Post-Trip
inspections and reporting any maintenance needs to the mechanic.
Managing Student behavior to ensure a respectful and safe atmosphere for all passengers.

Requirements:
Will need at minimum a Class B driver’s license with both the School Bus (S) and Passenger (P)
endorsements. (Are able to train)
Must be able to pass a DOT physical, pre-employment drug test, and background check.
Have and maintain a clean driving record.
Meet the physical requirements of the job, which may entail lifting, bending, and twisting.
