$55,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yr
Primary PurposeThe Staff Accountant is responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and processing accounts payable and accounts receivable invoices. This position will also perform day‑to‑day accounting functions, monitor communications, and manage mail. The Staff Accountant partners with other accounting team members to ensure all required activities are performed accurately and timely.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain daily bank activity and mail, and notify team members of unusual activity in a timely manner.
- Analyze and perform monthly reconciliations for assigned bank and balance sheet accounts.
- Monitor general accounting inbox for emails and respond accordingly.
- Manage accounts receivable tasks, including creating, reviewing, and sending monthly invoices, assisting with internal department requests, and following up on past‑due balances.
- Manage accounts payable tasks, including entering vendor bills, approving payments, and posting wire payments in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to approval requirements.
- Assist in the ongoing development of general accounting, financial reporting, internal control, and other financial processes and procedures.
- Participate in the preparation and analysis of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Develop and improve department standard operating procedures and policies to strengthen internal controls.
- Support the accounting and finance team with various tasks as assigned.
- Other special projects and duties assigned within functional/knowledge area.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or similar field required.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance required.
- Advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) required.
- Proficiency with accounting software.
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
- Ability to collaborate across all levels of an organization. Personable, approachable, and service‑oriented.
- Ability to work independently with effective time management, organization, and analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, make solid judgments, and act with integrity, professionalism, and empathy.
- Knowledge of English language structure and composition.
