Location: Minnetonka, MN (This is an on-site role requiring onsite presence in MN daily – only local residents of Minnesota and Western Wisconsin will be eligible for consideration)
Compensation: $65,000-$70,000/yr
Position Summary
We are seeking a Property Staff Accountant to support our client's accounting and tax functions across a multi-state property portfolio. This role will have a strong emphasis on general ledger accounting, month-end close, and sales & use tax compliance, as well as exposure to property and property tax accounting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a structured close process, and experienced with multi-state compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts across multiple entities and properties
- Perform bank account reconciliations and investigate variances
- Support month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Assist with maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with accounting standards
- Support property accounting activities for a multi-state portfolio
- Assist with property tax accounting, tracking assessments and payments
- Prepare and/or review sales & use tax filings across multiple states
- Ensure ongoing multi-state sales & use tax compliance and accurate reporting
- Research tax issues and assist with resolving notices and discrepancies
- Review and process expenses through Concur
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Strong understanding of Sales & Use Tax Filings
- Experience working heavily in the General Ledger and posting Journal Entries
- Similar industry experience
- Large ERP exposure
