Field Technician - Construction Inspection

Sambatek is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join our team as a Construction Inspector/Field Technician. In this role, you will be working on Municipal, County, and MnDOT construction management projects in the Twin Cities area. This position is primarily based in the field with some local travel. This is an integral part of the Construction Management team and will work under the guidance of the Project Manager/Engineer.

• Expected Compensation Range: $24-28 per hour (Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications)
• Pay Rate Type:
  Hourly with overtime rate of 1.5x base pay for all hours worked over 40 in a week

• Work with the contractor and other stakeholders to ensure and verify compliance with the plans, specifications, and standards
• Serve as inspector for construction projects for various public sector clients
• Perform field observations/inspections, as well as material testing and sampling as needed
• Support verification and ensure compliance to project plans, specifications, and standards by:
  • Preparing daily reports, gathering quantities, and documenting test results
  • Preparing pay estimates and producing project documentation for private, municipal, county, MnDOT and federal projects
  • Completing documentation such as daily diaries, quantity calculations, backup documentation, letters, memos, and spreadsheets
• Attend weekly progress meetings and other meetings as needed
• Communicate directly, both verbally and written, with construction contractors and engineers regarding conformance or non-conformance to standards, plans, specifications, and codes

• Associates or Bachelor's degree (or current student) related to civil engineering or construction preferred, not required
• Current MnDOT technical certifications preferred (qualified candidates will be asked to provide proof of certification and/or be willing to obtain certifications)
• Good technical, communication, and organizational skills
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Experience in AutoCAD, Micro Station, and Bluebeam preferred
• Extensive use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and construction management databases/tracking software preferred
• Survey/GPS/Trimble TSC7 Rover experience preferred

• Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
• Ability to carry equipment and supplies in remote, rural, or urban surroundings
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasons of weather
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances
