Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you’ll be front and center – interacting with our customers and developing strong patient relationships.

Base Pay Range

$17.00/hr - $20.50/hr

Responsibilities Pharmacy Operations
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Assist with and coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers when PTCB certified, in the operation of pharmacy systems and the pharmacy cash registers.
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits.
  • Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
Operations
  • Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy under the supervision of the pharmacist.
  • Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, verifying medicine, checking for interactions, and maintaining workflow.
  • Report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies.
  • Adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing.
  • Register sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash, and assist customers in the OTC aisle.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including those to physicians.
  • Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services and coordinating with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with the local medical community.
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and complete special assignments.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state required certification.
  • Attend training requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits, maintaining knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy.
Basic Qualifications
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
