Summary of Work

As a Pretrial Services Parole and Probation Officer you will provide supervision to individuals placed on pretrial supervision. This includes completing intakes on clients, developing case plans, and overall management of the client's case. This position is also required to complete pre‑sentence investigations for the courts, complete risk assessments, and other miscellaneous investigations. This position works closely with all facets of the criminal justice system.

This position has a great deal of interaction with the courts, law enforcement agencies, human service centers, and social services agencies.

Minimum Qualifications Parole and Probation Officer II minimum qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred in behavioral science, education, business, or a related field with three years of work experience in a corrections, law enforcement, social work, education, or behavioral health setting.
  • Eligibility to be licensed as a peace officer in North Dakota.
  • Must be licensable as an ND peace officer under North Dakota Century Code Chapter 12‑63 and pass the critical task assessment.
  • Must attend basic peace officer training recognized by the ND POST Board ensuring authorization to perform the peace officer duties of a Parole and Probation Officer in accordance with North Dakota Century Code Section 12‑59‑20.
  • Valid Class D driver's license and pass a thorough background investigation and criminal record check.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred in behavioral science, education, business, or related field, or an associate's degree with two years of work experience in corrections, law enforcement, social work, education, or behavioral health setting.
  • Eligibility to be licensed as a peace officer in North Dakota.
  • Valid Class D driver's license and pass a thorough background investigation and criminal record check.
  • This employment offer is based on the condition that you successfully pass a pre‑employment physical examination, drug testing, psychological examination and the Critical Task Assessment (CTA) fitness test in a time not exceeding 7 minutes and 15 seconds.
