Job Description
Youth Works is a compassionate, statewide nonprofit in North Dakota working to make sure every young person has a place to belong and be heard. Founded in 1986, we serve youth up to age 22 — including those who are homeless, runaway, trafficked, or facing court involvement — by providing crisis intervention, emergency shelter, and transitional housing. We also offer school‑based programs (like Day Report), diversion for youth at risk of further justice system involvement, and anger‑management classes for teens and parents.
For young adults (18–24), we offer furnished transitional living with counseling, mentoring, life‑skills training, and practical support such as food, transportation, education, and employment help. Our anti‑human‑trafficking program supports survivors with individualized case management, counseling, and safe housing. We also run a school suspension program for students and culturally grounded mentorship and connection through the Youth Cultural Achievement Project, especially for Native American youth.
Youth Works maintains a 24/7 street‑outreach and drop‑in center offering food, clothing, hygiene items, crisis help, and referrals to services.
- Through the Community Builder Program, the Youth Leadership and Engagement Member will serve alongside Youth Works’ Youth Engagement Leaders (YELs) to elevate youth voice, advocacy, and leadership across North Dakota.
- Members – ideally young adults ages 18–24 – will co‑create and lead projects that empower youth to influence programs, policies, and community initiatives.
- Members will model peer leadership and collaboration while supporting youth‑driven activities that build confidence, purpose, and connection.
