Join to apply for the Youthworks | Youth Independent Living Support Member role at Ameri Corps
. Youthworks is a compassionate, statewide nonprofit in North Dakota working to make sure every young person has a place to belong and be heard. Founded in 1986, we serve youth up to age 24 — including those who are homeless, runaway, trafficked, or facing court involvement — by providing crisis intervention, emergency shelter, and transitional housing. We also offer school‑based programs, diversion for youth at risk of further justice system involvement, and anger‑management classes for teens and parents.
For young adults (18–24), we offer furnished transitional living with counseling, mentoring, life‑skills training, and practical support like food, transportation, education, and employment help. Our anti‑human trafficking program supports survivors with individualized case management, counseling, and safe housing. We also run a school suspension program for students, and culturally grounded mentorship and connection through our Youth Cultural Achievement Project, especially for Native American youth.
Youthworks also maintains a 24/7 street‑outreach and drop‑in center offering food, clothes, hygiene items, crisis help, and referrals to services across our work, we use a Positive Youth Development philosophy — meeting young people where they are.
- Through the Community Builder Program, the Young Adult Mentoring and Independent Living Support Member will help young adults gain the skills, stability, and confidence to transition successfully into adulthood.
- Members will build relationships with youth ages 18 and older who are working toward housing stability, employment, education, and connection.
- Members will assist with life‑skills development, peer support groups, and community engagement, helping participants strengthen resilience and independence.
