Queen of Peace, Mishawaka - Middle School ELA/Reading Teacher (Mishawaka, IN)
Queen of Peace Catholic School is seeking a full-time ELA teacher (grs. 6-8) for the School Year. The teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that fosters, promotes, and develops a joy for learning, a thirst for knowledge, and a mastery of grade-level curricula in all subject areas.
Responsibilities:
Teaches knowledge of grade-level content following State Standards, utilizing curriculum designated by the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend and other appropriate learning activities.Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials effectively, with all learners in mind.Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps appropriate records including attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other necessary recordkeeping activities.Maintains control of storage and use of school property.Evaluates each student’s growth in knowledge regularly and frequently.Communicates with parents on student progress.Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.Administers testing in accordance with school policy.Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities.Participates in various student and parent activities which occur in school.Creates an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and activity/learning centers.Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.Job Specifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education or a related field and meet the Indiana Department of Education licensure eligibility requirements to teach Middle School education.Must be eligible for, or in possession of, an appropriate Indiana teaching license.Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.This is a full-time position.
