Maintenance - HVAC Specialist role at Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation
. Position Type:
Maintenance/Custodial/Maintenance General.
Work Schedule:
261 days per year, 8 hours per day.
Location:
All Schools. Reports to Director of Facilities, Associate Director of Facilities, Maintenance Manager, and Facilities Manager.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components.
- Routinely deliver maintenance services in carpentry, welding, plumbing, roofing, hardware, glazing, masonry, and lawn irrigation equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
- Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment necessary for maintenance tasks.
- Perform carpentry, painting, and general building upkeep as needed.
- Stock and inventory basic repair parts and emergency items.
- Install new or replacement motors and other equipment and machines.
- Open clogged drains, traps, and winterize plumbing and heating units.
- Repair broken furniture and shelving.
- Respond to work orders and maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Replace ceiling and floor tile.
- Keep assigned maintenance trucks and shop areas clean, orderly, and tools organized, and also report damages or losses properly.
- Remove snow from building drives, parking lots, walkways, and designated areas.
- Assist Master Trades with repairs and preventative maintenance when necessary.
- Accept additional duties as assigned by the supervisor that are consistent with the function of maintenance.
- Follow other directives from the Director of Facilities, Associate Director of Facilities, Maintenance Manager, Facilities Manager, and the Superintendent that serve to improve services to the students and patrons of the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation.
- Attend in-service training programs as needed.
- Hooking up, pulling, backing up, loading and unloading of trailers.
- Experience in building maintenance, repair, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent work habits, attendance record and successfully complete and pass all criminal history and child abuse clearances.
- Shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
Tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-80 pounds).
Environmental Factors- Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as temperature and noise extremes, odors, humidity, vibrations, traffic hazards, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, the noise level can vary depending on daily activity, but will still remain within the acceptable noise level range.
Normal concentration/intensity, which includes prolonged mental effort with limited opportunity for breaks. Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria.
