Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Match Box Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a growing manufacturing client in the agricultural equipment sector. Our client designs and manufactures high-quality agricultural equipment used globally. Based in Mission, BC, they are experiencing continued growth and are looking to add a Senior Mechanical Designer / Engineer to their team, with a strong focus on new product development. This role will be responsible for the design and development of innovative new products from concept through production.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of innovative new products
• Apply strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to identify and resolve design issues, ensuring optimal functionality and performance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle while maintaining project timelines and quality standards
• Conduct research and analysis to evaluate feasibility, performance, and cost-effectiveness of design concepts
• Create detailed design documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and test plans, to support production implementation
• Configure products for sales orders and produce associated drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Review engineering changes and process them through formal change management (ECRs, ECOs, ECNs)
• Support and contribute to the development of internal design standards and procedures
• Perform peer reviews of models, drawings, and BOMs
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve design practices and processes

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technologist Diploma
• Proven experience in new product development within heavy industry
• P.Eng or ASCT designation is preferred
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering design and development of complex products
• Proficiency with 3D CAD systems, preferably Autodesk software (Inventor, Vault)
• Strong problem-solving skills and three-dimensional conceptual ability
• Effective communicator across multiple levels of an organization, including customers, sales, and purchasing
• Experience presenting design concepts and solutions to stakeholders
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Solid understanding and application of GD&T standards and weld specifications
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
