Help shape the digital infrastructure of tomorrow. As Director – Mission Critical & Data Centers (Mechanical) , you will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering resilient, scalable, and high‑performance mechanical systems for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data centers. Embedded within WSP Canada’s Data Centers Centre of Excellence , this role combines technical authority, people leadership, and strategic growth in one of the industry’s most dynamic sectors.
Your Impact
Provide strategic and technical leadership for mechanical systems on large‑scale, mission‑critical data center projects, including hyperscale and AI‑ready facilities.
Act as Mechanical Lead and Subject Matter Expert, shaping design direction and technical excellence across complex programs.
Lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of delivery, from feasibility and concept design through construction and commissioning.
Oversee advanced cooling architectures, including chilled water plants, heat rejection systems, liquid cooling, thermal energy storage, and free‑cooling strategies.
Drive project success through strong governance of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk.
Support business development through proposal strategies, technical narratives, fee development, and client interviews.
Build trusted advisor relationships with clients and stakeholders, supporting executive‑level technical discussions and decision‑making.
Mentor senior engineers and project managers, strengthening capability, succession, and technical leadership within the practice.
The Skills That Set You Apart
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with P.Eng. (or equivalent) designation.
15+ years of experience delivering data center or mission‑critical infrastructure projects.
Recognized expertise in high‑density cooling , hyperscale environments, and resilient mechanical systems.
Proven experience developing and approving Basis of Design (BoD) documents, standards, and technical governance frameworks.
Strong leadership presence with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams and influence senior stakeholders.
Demonstrated success in client‑facing roles, including executive‑level engagement.
A collaborative, innovative mindset with a passion for talent development and continuous improvement.
Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and sound professional judgment.
Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $177,000 – $234,400
MB & ON: $161,500 – $222,300
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $159,900 – $212,300
