Forklift Operator, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Everclear Metal Recycling Ltd. is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator for our scrap metal recycling yard. This hands‑on role is ideal for someone who enjoys operating heavy machinery, working outdoors, and contributing to a sustainable industry.
Salary
: $28.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience

- Operate heavy equipment safely, including material handlers, excavators with grapple and magnet attachments, and other equipment as needed.
- Load and unload scrap metal from trucks and containers.
- Sort, process, and move ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Maintain safe traffic flow in the yard.
- Complete daily inspections and equipment records.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
- Report hazards, equipment issues, and maintenance needs promptly.
- Follow WorkSafeBC regulations, company safety policies, and environmental procedures.
- Assist with general yard duties and support efficient operations.
- Heavy equipment operating experience required.
- Experience in scrap metal recycling, demolition, construction, forestry, or aggregate industries is an asset.
- Forklift certification is an asset; training may be provided.
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to identify equipment issues.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to work safely in all weather conditions.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work when required.
