Serve those in need by becoming an Overnight Shelter Support Staff at Siloam Mission in Winnipeg. This role is dedicated to fostering safety and support in a low-barrier overnight shelter environment.
In this vital position, you'll be active with community members during twelve-hour overnight shifts, addressing immediate needs while incorporating a Housing-Focused approach. You'll utilize behavioral and trauma-informed practices to assist individuals facing homelessness. A key aspect of your role will be collaborating with diverse populations and adhering to Siloam's core values.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver direct support to shelter residents every night
• Ensure safety through active monitoring and assessment
• Complete incident reports and maintain daily logs
• Provide nutritious support including meals and clothing
• Conduct general housekeeping to ensure a clean environment
Requirements:
• Diploma in social services or relevant experience
• At least 1 year of working with at-risk populations
• Knowledge of cultural awareness and anti-oppressive practices
• Ability to manage crisis situations calmly
• Commitment to ongoing training and professional development
