Overview
Supervisor Nursing – SICU (Full Time Night)
Location: Mission Viejo, California
Department: Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
Schedule: Full-Time | Night Shift (3 nights, 12-hour shifts)
The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a 20-bed critical care unit specializing in neuro and trauma critical care management. The unit is part of a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Level II Trauma Center, caring for complex patients including neuro/TBI/Stroke/spinal cord injuries; complex surgical cases; trauma patients; and medical critical care patients.
Responsibilities- Serve as Charge Nurse/Supervisor on the night shift, managing workflow, staffing, and clinical operations.
- Provide direct patient care and clinical leadership in the SICU.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and leadership to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with ANA Nursing Administration standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Facilitate staff development, education, and performance evaluations.
- Monitor quality metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, policies, and documentation standards.
- Mentor and support nursing staff through coaching and feedback.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- California Registered Nurse License (active upon hire)
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association - upon hire)
- One professional nursing certification relevant to the specialty (upon hire)
- Minimum 2 years recent clinical experience in SICU or related specialty area
- Charge Nurse or Relief Charge Nurse experience
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN or equivalent)
- Previous leadership experience in critical care nursing
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in neuro/trauma critical care
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills in an ICU environment
- Ability to manage complex patient care with strong decision-making and communication skills
- Committed to fostering teamwork and professional growth
