Position SummaryThe Student Assistant for the Office of Student Affairs at the Rosenberg School of Optometry will assist the staff within the Student Affairs office on various daily and long-term projects. The Student Assistant reports to Coordinator of Optometry Enrollment Management.
Essential Functions- Answer all incoming calls.
- Provide customer service, first point of contact, to all visiting Student Affairs.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Perform general clerical duties, but not limited to: creating spreadsheets, filing, copying, calling vendors, and mailing.
- Assist with event preparation from setup to cleanup for all events which include but not limited to:
Orientation, Welcome Back, Awards Ceremony & Eye Ball, Graduation, and Student Interviews. - Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of office skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and efficiently.
- Dependable and reliable.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to provide own transportation to Rosenberg School of Optometry.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Current UIW student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Required Work ExperienceExperience using Microsoft Office suite programs:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Previous administrative or office experience.
Required Certifications, Licenses or RegistrationsNone.
Work Hours- Typically within a Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm schedule.
- Occasional evenings or weekends to assist with events. Advance notice will be provided.
Ability to reach, squat, stoop, and lift at least 10 lbs. to organize files and supplies.
