Teen Services and Social Media Specialist/Library Associate (part-time)

Library Associate - Bilingual (02288C)

Hours:

25 hours biweekly, including every other Saturday

Rate of Pay: $25.47 per hour

Reports to:

Head of Public Services

• Create, execute, and maintain a variety of teen programs for in-person, online, and outreach.
• Research and implement new teen services.
• Run the Library’s social media, including Tik Tok, Facebook, Instagram, and Whats App.
• Proficient in software such as Canva to create promotional materials as well as working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Docs.
• Update the BCCLS calendar and our Webpage of Programs.
• Assist in translation as needed, both directly with patrons and the translation of library signage, flyers, and other materials.
• Cover all service desks; answering basic reference and reader's advisory questions at the Reference and Children’s Desks, and checking out books, creating library cards, assisting with computers, copiers, and scanners, etc. at the Circulation Desk.
• 12 hours of continuing education courses are required every year via webinars, workshops, or seminars.
• Perform other duties as assigned for an evolving and growing library.

Requirements:

• Applicants must be fluent in both Spanish and English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
• Some background in libraries, museums, or other similar venues is preferred.

This is a Civil Service position;
Librarian Associate is a non-competitive title. Garfield Public Library is a Union shop. Please note that this position is subject to the NJ First Act, requiring public employees to establish residency in the State of New Jersey. See N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70) for further information.
