Instrument Calibration Scientist – ARRAKIHS Mission
Purpose
:
Lead the calibration efforts for the ARRAKIHS mission under the European Space Agency (ESA), ensuring the scientific accuracy of data collected by the instrument.

- Calibration Pipeline Development
:
Lead the design and implementation of the calibration pipeline for data processing. - Calibration Plan
:
Develop and execute a strategy addressing on-ground and in-flight calibration, including systematic effects. - Collaboration
:
Coordinate with ESA teams, detector characterization teams, and other calibration groups. - Performance Analysis
:
Support end-to-end performance assessments and optimizations. - Documentation
:
Ensure calibration processes are documented and compliant with ESA standards.
- Education
:
PhD in Astronomy, Physics, Engineering, or a related field. - Experience
:
At least 8 years in astronomical instrument calibration; experience in space missions is highly valued. - Skills
:
Expertise in calibration techniques, addressing systematic effects, and proficiency in data reduction pipelines. - Collaboration & Communication
:
Strong teamwork and communication skills. - Background in optical systems, detector technologies, and space instrumentation.
- Experience in ESA projects or missions.
- Proven track record in managing calibration plans for both ground-based and in-flight activities.
