The BioSyste
M excellence cluster of TUM aims to establish a globally leading, interdisciplinary research and innovation environment in Munich to design and construct programmable molecular and multi-cellular systems. By merging advances in DNA nanotechnology, protein design, synthetic biology, fabrication technologies, stem cell and organoid technologies and AI, the cluster seeks to develop foundational technologies for next-generation biomedical applications, sustainable materials, and the scientific understanding of life.
A core mission is to accelerate the translation of biotechnology research into real-world impact by fostering innovation ecosystems that support deep tech entrepreneurship, co-creation, and the transfer of scientific discoveries into practical applications and market‑ready solutions in collaboration with the TUM Venture Labs, a joint initiative of Unternehmer
TUM and the Technical University of Munich, fostering the transfer of excellent research into scalable deep tech start‑ups.
For this purpose, we are hiring a Venture Manager “BioSyste
M”
starting as of 1. February 2026.
- Build up the Biosystems Stream
– leverage the full potential within the BioSyste
M Excellence Cluster to create deep tech Spin-Offs and build up a new stream within the TUM Venture Labs initiative across domain‑ and lab‑boundaries. - Drive the Community
– create a vivid community that brings all stakeholders together within the cluster scope: researchers, industry experts, investors, and proven entrepreneurs. - Support and Empower the Researchers
– empower the researchers within the cluster by creating and offering relevant education and tech transfer formats. - Connect Science and Innovation
– actively scout for entrepreneurial potential within scientific projects and publications.
- Completed academic university degree (Diploma, Master’s, or PhD) in life sciences, bioengineering, biophysics, synthetic biology, or a related field.
- Relevant experiences in the field of biotechnology and biomedical applications.
- Proven experience in innovation management, tech transfer, venture building, investment or startup support, especially in life sciences.
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset and hands‑on approach with the ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken.

- Deep Dive into Science | Engage closely with leading researchers at TUM and LMU in areas such as synthetic biology, protein engineering, organoids, and biomedical AI.
Additional Information:
Full-time, 40.1 hrs/week, initially limited to 2 years. The application procedure is carried out by TUM Venture Labs; in this respect, we are the controller within the meaning of GDPR. The employment relationship takes place in the context of employment at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). However, the work is performed for TUM Venture Labs. The employment relationship is based on TV‑L E13 with the social benefits of the public service and is limited to 2 years. The university aims to increase the proportion of women.
