Salary: $80,000 – $110,000 per year (depending on experience and geographic location) + annual performance-based bonus

Position Summary:The Paralegal will support a team of attorneys handling a large and varied caseload in litigation through trial, including assisting with case management, administrative support, document preparation and review, research, and communications with clients, attorneys, experts, and the court. The paralegal will work collaboratively with clients and the litigation team.
The below is not an exhaustive list but provides an expectation of the likely day to day responsibilities. The Paralegal should be prepared to work autonomously and respond as required to ensure a high level of service is always maintained. All responsibilities should be carried out in accordance with firm protocols, policies and procedures and best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Accurately and timely processes case documents according to firm’s procedures.
- Accurately and timely dockets all court and case deadlines using firm’s case management software.
- Effectively manage time to accomplish daily tasks and duties.
- Assist multiple attorneys during various stages of litigation.
- Schedule depositions, meetings, and other litigation related events.
- Maintain and organize case files.
- Regularly enter and update case information and expense information in case management software (Filevine).
- Prepare draft discovery shells, responses, and privilege logs under an attorney’s direction. Organize, index, and bates stamp document production.
- Finalize draft pleadings, discovery, mediation briefs, motions and other documents, including proofreading, formatting, and organizing and assembling exhibits.
- File and serve legal documents.
- Perform basic legal research, online research, and research court rules and procedures.
- Professionally communicate with clients, courts, attorneys, and experts.
- Fact-checking legal filing and documents.
- Open health insurance liens and communicate with health insurance companies to obtain lien information and provide updates.
- Prepare medical chronologies and medical expense summaries.
- Assist in trial preparation, including preparing trial binders and organizing exhibits.
- Respond to and incorporate management direction and constructive feedback.
- Train and assist other paralegals on the litigation team as needed or requested, including new hires and paralegals who are out of the office.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- At least 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal preferred.
- Strong personal and professional judgment.
- Ability to take initiative in the absence of direction.
- Ability to work under pressure with the ability to handle a wide variety of activities with great discretion and poise.
- Problem-solving abilities that adapt to a variety of situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills – able to effectively communicate with leadership and staff to create and administer policies and processes.
- Ability to respond quickly to shifting circumstances and adjust and prioritize accordingly.
