This position works within the Prevention, Education, and Coordination Team under the general direction of the Management Analyst III (Prevention and Education Coordinator). The Training Coordination Specialist serves as a member of the Prevention, Education, and Coordination Team responsible for team-wide coordination, development, and execution of targeted, strategic prevention, training, and outreach strategies, programs, and initiatives focused on preventing and addressing sexual and domestic violence, human trafficking, and stalking both internally and externally and in accordance with the DFS five core values:

The Department of Family Services (DFS) Mission: DFS strengthens the well-being of our diverse community by protecting and improving the lives of all children, adults, and families through assistance, partnership, advocacy, outreach, and quality services. Its workforce of over 1,300 employees are distributed at multiple county facilities and serve within six main agency divisions:
Public Assistance and Employment Services (PAES);
Children Youth and Families;
Adult and Aging;
Domestic and Sexual Violence Services; the Comprehensive Services Act; and Administrative Operations.

This position systematizes and coordinates learning and community engagement projects and tasks to ensure DSVS is effectively serving the needs of the community and increasing the capacity of stakeholders to reduce and prevent sexual and domestic violence, human trafficking, and stalking. Works collaboratively with DSVS and Community Partners to provide community engagement and education to support the strategic plans of DSVS, DFS, and the County of Fairfax.

This involves developing and managing a team of volunteers and training them to conduct outreach and education in the community, developing and maintaining training materials, leading, and maintaining (as needed) systematized processes for prevention, training and outreach requests implementation and follow-up, supporting in the evaluation of prevention, training and outreach programs, and representing DSVS at community events. The duties of this position may require an alternative or flexible work schedule, including evening work and on-call work, as required to meet client needs and to ensure adequate staffing of Clinical Services operating hours.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Develops and manages DSVS outreach volunteer program and trains volunteers to conduct outreach and education in the community.
  • Leads, maintains and develops (as needed) systematized processes for prevention, training, and outreach requests, implementation and follow-up, including the Speaks Committee.
  • Conducts outreach and builds relationships with potential training partners on SV, DV, HT, and stalking.
  • Supports the evaluation of effectiveness of prevention, training, and outreach, and uses relevant evaluation data to determine effectiveness of programs and their impact, to identify existing learning gaps, and recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods and standardizing evaluations.
  • Collects data and conducts analysis regarding participation and delivery in projects and initiatives.
  • Plans, develops, and coordinates training reports.
