Description
St. Croix Health is looking for a benefit eligible part‑time (0.5 or 0.6 FTE) Nutrition Services Associate to join our team! The scheduled hours vary from 5:30 AM to 7:30 PM and the position works every other weekend.
The Nutrition Services Associate is responsible for assisting service of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient meals, cafeteria clientele and catered functions. This position has a vast number of responsibilities focusing on prep work in the kitchen—cutting and dicing various foods, putting sandwiches together, and having register duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- 1. Meal production. Determines meal production, increases or decreases as necessary, works on both hot and cold line productions, prepares meals by following recipes and recording production onto production sheets for quality record keeping as well as keeping temperatures of all food being served to patients and guests.
- Production logs filled out daily
- Temperature logs in all areas filled out daily
- Meal prepared as recipes dictate
- Communication with lead kitchen coordinator
- 2. Point of Sales system. Operates the Point of Sales system.
- Charges all guests accurately and in a timely manner.
- Counts cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Records all cash drawer counts in book to maintain accuracy of drawer at the end of shift.
- 3. Patient tray management. Sets up, delivers, and retrieves patient trays for meals adhering to the guidelines.
- Clean or prepare various foods for cooking or serving.
- Provides feedback from nursing staff that trays are on time and correct.
- Ensures dirty trays are not left on floors.
- Flexibility with taking late trays up or down with direction from lead kitchen staff.
- 4. Stock order fulfillment. Fills and delivers stock orders for each department requesting items.
- Stock order sheets completed.
- Supplies such as food or utensils placed in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars.
- 5. Minor responsibilities.
- Performs general cleaning throughout Nutrition Services Department.
- Operates dish machine and manually does dishes in three‑sink area.
- Takes temperatures for the dish room and in refrigerators on patient floors.
- Answers phone calls.
- Takes room service requests.
- Assists with putting groceries away as they come in and follows the FIFO rule.
- Performs pre‑prep and prep work for the Kitchen Coordinator.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Currently enrolled in high school with an expected graduation date within the next 2 years.
- Serv Safe Certification within six months of hire preferred.
- Prior food service experience required.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and priorities.
- Good customer service.
- Cooperative working with others.
- Can walk, bend and stand for extended periods of time.
- Can make correct change and operate Point of Sale system.
- Works well under pressure.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
