Who we are
Sapien is rethinking how finance teams operate in the age of AI. We’re building toward an autonomous CFO
—systems that run company financials end-to-end. Our platform analyzes complex financial data in real time to increase decision cadence, prevent costly mistakes, and surface value. Sapien has caught multi-million-dollar errors, saved thousands of jobs, and returned significant dollars to customers’ bottom lines.
We partner with traditional businesses—manufacturing, healthcare, restaurants, and large enterprises to deeply understand and automate their financial workflows. We’re HQ’d by Madison Square Park in NYC and backed by General Catalyst, Neo
, and top operators from Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, Ramp, and Stripe (over $9M raised
).
You’ll design and build the user experience that makes Sapien’s AI agents accessible to finance teams. This means translating complex agent actions into intuitive interfaces, creating new UI paradigms for human-AI collaboration, and building systems that capture user feedback to make agents smarter over time.
This is a product-minded engineering role. You’ll work full-stack—from designing interaction patterns and building frontend experiences to architecting backend systems that power observability and data collection.
What you’ll doBuild middleware "translation layers" that convert thousands of underlying agent actions into clear, digestible user information—making complex AI workflows transparent and controllable.
Design and implement data collection systems that capture user feedback, preferences, and domain knowledge to continuously improve agent understanding of company processes.
Create novel visualizations of agent reasoning, calculations, and actions—surfacing the right information at the right time to build user trust and enable effective oversight.
Reimagine human-AI interaction patterns from first principles across data ingestion, verification workflows, observability, and human-in-the-loop interventions.
Iterate rapidly with customers, gathering feedback on what interface patterns work, what information users need, and where the product experience breaks down.
Work full-stack to implement features end-to-end—from React/Type Script frontend components to Flask/Python backend APIs and agent integration layers.
3+ years of full-stack engineering experience, ideally building user-facing products with modern frameworks (Next.js, Gevent, etc.).
Strong product instincts and UX sensibility—demonstrated through building and iterating on products with real users and developing strong opinions about what works.
Comfort working across the stack: designing interfaces, implementing frontend logic, building APIs, and integrating with complex backend systems.
Ability to translate complex technical capabilities into simple, intuitive user experiences that non-technical users can understand and trust.
Experience building data-intensive applications or working with real-time systems, visualizations, or collaborative workflows.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Adaptability: You move fluidly between design, frontend, backend, and customer conversations. You're comfortable in unfamiliar territory and can shift contexts quickly.
Ownership: You take problems from concept to deployment. You don't wait for specs—you talk to users, form opinions, build prototypes, and iterate until it's right.
Opinionated: You have strong perspectives on what makes good UX and aren't afraid to push back on designs or features you disagree with. You make the product better through thoughtful debate.
Mission-driven: You understand that every interface decision impacts whether finance teams trust and adopt AI. You care deeply about building products that transform how businesses run.
Collaborative excellence: You elevate the team through design reviews, code feedback, and sharing insights from user research. You bring new ideas and best practices that raise the bar for everyone.
