Key Role Responsibilities - Core

FIELD ENGINEER – TRADE FAMILY - CORE

  • Actively participates in all aspects of the project-specific safety plan and culture.
  • Learns and actively participates in all aspects of the company’s safety culture by demonstrating commitment to an injury free environment through individual actions and mentoring others.
  • Works with tools and executes self-perform work while embedded as part of a crew of craftsmen to complete specific assigned tasks on a project.
  • Acquires knowledge about company best practice standards and fundamentals for building and construction techniques through hands on, on-the-job training and regular work assignments.
  • Builds relationships and develops communication and interpersonal skills with trades people and project team members such as foreman, journeymen, superintendents, subcontractors, etc.
  • Develops understanding about the various functions and support roles across the company, and how each contributes to the success of a project.
  • Learns and applies company standards for how specific equipment is used for specific building processes.
  • Collaborates with others and demonstrates teamwork.
  • Learns and incorporates Lean practices into daily activities.
  • Participates in various meetings such as weekly work plans, as warranted by business needs and site practices.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

FIELD ENGINEER 2

In addition, this position will be responsible for the following (FE2):

  • Plans, executes and reports self-perform work.
  • Pre-plans crew activities, fulfills the requirements of the daily task plan, completes look ahead schedule and provides updates to supervisor.
  • Participates in creating and implementing project safety plans and ensures compliance, through a variety of methods such as training, tool box talks and communication with safety representatives.
  • Helps control costs by looking for ways to improve the process.
  • Ensures quality for assigned tasks by assisting with project quality assurance/quality control activities.
  • Assists with MOC (Material and Other Costs) and equipment analysis.
  • Works on site with the superintendent to assist with a variety of tasks such as monitoring crew size, self-perform packaging and working with contractors.
  • Participates in activities such as punch lists, city inspections, safety reviews, quality reviews and prepares the necessary documentation.
  • Participates and/or leads components of planning meetings such as weekly work plans and lookaheads.
  • Acquires and relies on additional knowledge about the various functions and support roles across the company to coordinate with others to meet various project needs.
  • Participates in and/or leads components of various Lean construction practices such as last planner system, etc.
  • Participates in planning components of the sequencing and coordination of all crafts.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge in layout skills.
  • Knowledge of crane flagging and rigging.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure and available resources.
  • Knowledge of the means and methods of construction management.
  • Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy.
  • Proficiency in required JE Dunn construction technology.
  • Ability to apply fundamentals of the means and methods of construction management.
  • Knowledge of self-perform and labor productivity.
  • Ability to assess and optimize project productivity.
  • Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of productivity rates.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred).
  • Participation in a federally required training or apprenticeship program, depending upon location (Preferred).
  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
  • 2+ years construction experience (Required).
  • 0-2 years construction supervision experience (Preferred).
