Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
• Knowledge of subject(s) assigned
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Serve as a member of the ARD committee
• Use a course of study based on Mission CISD goals and the pupil’s IEP; keep lesson plan books up-to-date; use instructional materials to aid in planning, directing, and evaluating the instructional program; work within the class schedule set by the campus principal
• Administer the classroom program, maintaining order and discipline; keep accurate pupil records and reports
• Follow purchasing policies; be responsible for proper procurement of items
• Care for school property and classroom appearance; manage textbooks issued by the principal
• Observe children for signs of illness; notify appropriate staff if needed
• Maintain positive relationships with colleagues; participate in staff activities
• Assist students in improving study methods and habits
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline per policies and IEP
• Create a conducive learning environment appropriate for students’ development
• Ensure safety of students, equipment, and facilities
• Assist in selecting instructional materials
• Collaborate with staff on instructional goals and methods
• Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff
• Participate in staff development and comply with regulations
• Maintain required reports and records
• Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees
• Demonstrate professional behavior and initiative
• Perform duties safely and responsibly
• Perform other duties as assigned
