Job Summary

The purpose of this position is teaching, supervising, and evaluating NCTC Medical Billing and Coding students in classroom and laboratory setting. This is an adjunct position with a maximum 19 hours per week including 2 hours on campus for regular office hours. It carries the obligation to uphold the Mission of North Central Texas College. A commitment while embracing positive interpersonal behaviors, professional communication, integrity, leadership, stewardship, respect and accountability to our students and employees.

It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course and program objectives and to contribute to the overall educational environment of the college and community and to provide related services such as academic advising, committee participation, professional development, community development as well as other service support that is needed in the fulfillment of the North Central Texas College’s Mission.

Responsibilities

& Duties
  • Teaching, supervising, and evaluating students in classroom and laboratory setting.
  • Treat students and colleagues with respect.
  • Active involvement in institutional effectiveness, including student learning outcomes, program level outcomes, and marketable skill achievement.
  • Focus on teaching and outreach efforts on student success.
  • Instruction: keep the Chair of Allied Health, Continuing Ed and Lead Faculty informed; collaborate with faculty on course loads and teaching assignments; observe student skill demonstrations.
  • Track, grade, and submit student grades in a timely order; instruct, critique and evaluate students’ classroom and laboratory performance.
  • Faculty Affairs: attend level meetings; attend college-sponsored professional development events; communicate with students and provide feedback in a timely manner; instruct, critique and evaluate students’ performance.
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the needs of the department and the institution.
Required Education

Must be Certified (CBCS, CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, AAPC or RHITs preferred)

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and motivational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exhibition of respect and professionalism in a spirit of collegiality.
  • Microsoft Office and Canvas LMS proficient.
  • Ability to promote an effective environment for learning in lecture experiences.
Required Experience

Must have coding experience within last 3 years. Online teaching experience a plus.
