About the Role
Total Rehab Kids is seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our growing therapy team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to help patients improve their daily living skills, functional independence, and overall quality of life.
This is a hands‑on clinical position where you’ll implement treatment plans, guide therapeutic activities, and support patients in regaining independence. You’ll play a key role in motivating patients, documenting progress, and collaborating with families and the care team to ensure the best outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Active state licensure (or eligibility) as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in Texas.
- Previous experience in an outpatient, pediatric, or rehabilitation setting.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills for effective communication with diverse patient populations.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Assist Occupational Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans.
- Lead therapeutic activities and exercises to improve physical, sensory, and cognitive function.
- Monitor and document patient progress, reporting updates to the supervising OT.
- Educate and support patients and families on therapeutic strategies to promote independence at home.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and supportive therapy environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with patients and families.
- Organizational skills to manage caseloads and maintain accurate documentation.
- Physical stamina and dexterity for assisting patients in exercises and mobility tasks.
- Compassion, patience, and empathy to encourage and motivate patients.
- Bilingual communication skills (preferred) to connect with a broader range of patients.
