Overview: We are seeking a Definitive Observation Unit CNA (also referred to as DOU Certified Nursing Assistant, Step‑Down CNA, or Progressive Care CNA) to provide direct patient care in our DOU. This role involves caring for patients who need closer monitoring than on a regular medical‑surgical floor but are not critical enough for the ICU.
Shift: Nights, 12‑hour shifts – 7:00 pm to 7:00 am

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take and record frequent vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation)
- Assist patients with bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, oral care, and feeding support
- Turn, reposition, and assist patients with mobility and safe transfers using proper techniques and equipment
- Monitor and document intake and output while observing for and reporting any changes in patient condition
- Support nursing staff in providing high‑quality care to patients requiring close observation in a step‑down unit
Qualifications:
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required
- Current BLS certificate within 30 days of hire and must be maintained
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
- Minimum six months experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred
