All About General Merchandise

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store.

Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
• Engage with guests to help solve their specific needs when assistance is required.
• Thank guests and acknowledge their choice to shop at Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader to align with business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Execute processes such as changing prices, merchandise setup and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed.
• Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about store resources, products, and services to solve issues and improve the guest experience.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
• Work safely at all times; comply with safety policies and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (picking/packing orders or delivering pickup orders) while complying with applicable laws.
• All other duties based on business needs.

• Ability to resolve guest questions quickly on the spot
• Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes
• Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks
