- Current and Valid Texas driver’s license
- Must have a High School diploma or GED
- Certification from a trade or technical school in auto body repair preferred
- Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in painting trade
- Ability to properly apply paints to vehicles
- Knowledge of and ability to mix paint to match colors
- Knowledge of and ability to repair minor vehicular body damage
- Knowledge of and ability to remove and replace minor engine components
- Knowledge and ability to remove and replace vehicular body parts
- Knowledge of and ability to repair minor upholstery damage
- Knowledge of basic computer skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work independently
- Special training or five (5) year experience in area of work preferred
Perform major and minor auto body repairs with minimum supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of District vehicles. Perform assigned work following established policies and procedures to provide students and staff with safe transportation.
Major Responsibilities and Duties- Assists in maintaining vehicles by painting and doing necessary body shop repairs; mix paints; and clean brushes and paint equipment.
- Assists in maintaining vehicles by doing necessary upholstery repairs;
Bench frame repairs and interior component replacement or repairs. - Works cooperatively with other departments in maintaining school vehicles.
- Requisition s and orders in the proper manner paints and supplies as needed.
- Learns proper safety procedures; follows safety regulations in the performance of duties; and reports accidents immediately.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Director for Transportation.

Exposure to hot and cold temperatures - Exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials
- Slippery or uneven walking surfaces
- Working on ladders
