goeasy is seeking a high-performing Director, Accounting to join one of Canada’s leading and fastest-growing consumer financial services companies. Reporting to the Vice President, Deputy Controller this role will lead complex accounting and financial reporting activities across the organization and play a critical role in supporting a publicly traded, high-growth environment operating under IFRS standards. You will oversee key accounting functions, provide technical accounting guidance, strengthen internal controls, and partner closely with executive stakeholders across the business.

You ideally brings strong technical accounting expertise, deep experience within complex lending or financial services environments, and the ability to lead through growth, transformation, and operational complexity. A strong understanding of IFRS, including IFRS 9, is critical for success in this role.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the full-cycle accounting operations across all legal entities. Oversee the monthly close cycles, ensuring timely and accurate reporting under IFRS.
  • Own complex areas related to the accounting of consumer lending under IFRS 9, goodwill impairment assessment, among others.
  • Provide technical accounting leadership and interpretation on IFRS standards, ensuring compliance and well-supported accounting positions.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Risk, Treasury, Operations, and executive leadership to support strategic business initiatives and evolving accounting requirements.
  • Review and analyze financial results, balance sheet reconciliations, variance reporting, and supporting schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Lead the preparation and review of technical accounting memos and documentation for management, auditors, and regulatory purposes.
  • Strengthen and maintain a robust internal controls environment, including controls over financial reporting and complex accounting processes.
  • Monitor emerging accounting standards and proactively assess impacts to the organization, including implementation planning where required.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team while creating strong accountability, operational discipline, and career growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes, reporting, systems, and controls to support scalability and operational excellence.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and business partner to senior leadership across the organization.
  • What experience do you have?

  • CPA designation required.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related business discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably within a public company, financial services, lending, banking, or large complex organization.
