Job Summary:

Provide general accounting and administrative support with primary emphasis in Accounts Payable for CPL companies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Match, code and enter A/P trade invoices including raw materials, packaging materials, MRO, technical services, manufacturing, warehousing and laboratory testing.
  • Match cheque remittances with corresponding invoices.
  • Maintain all A/P files in an orderly and logical manner ensuring accessibility by auditors and other managers.
  • Month end Account reconciliations for Trade AP and AP Other Accruals. Research and resolve accounts payable issues with vendors and employees.
  • On a monthly basis, reconcile the GR/IR account in a timely manner for all three business units. Ensure follow up on items that remain unresolved.
  • Provide and process credit applications.
  • Provide guidance and schedules as requested during the company’s annual internal audit.
  • Contributes to achieving Lean Goals and continuous improvement.
  • Respond to general inquiries, filing and other duties as required.
  • Responsible for working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures; properly uses personal protection and safety equipment as required by CPL; reports any injury or illness immediately and notifies CPL of any hazards, unsafe acts or conditions in the workplace.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:

  • Post secondary education in an accredited accounting program or equivalent.
  • Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in the areas of A/R and collections.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of general accounting functions and principles.
  • A self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced environment and requires minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with an emphasis on effective collection skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to plan and organize multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in a variety of MS office products including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and SAP R/3.
  • Flexible with the ability to adapt, respond quickly and manage change in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated competencies in CPL’s core values.
