Job Description
Construction & Site Management key responsibilities

Lead day‑to‑day construction activities for MV substations, solar PV, and BESS projects;

Manage contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on site;

Coordinate civil, structural, electrical, and commissioning activities;

Ensure construction aligns with IFC drawings, specifications, and approved methods;

Enforce site safety programs, toolbox talks, and HSE compliance;

Monitor field team from inspectors and site supervisors (utility portfolio);

Perform procurement activities;

Prepare required permits;

Schedule & Cost Control

Develop and manage construction schedules (Primavera P6 or MS Project);

Track progress, productivity, and milestones;

Review contractor invoices, change orders, and claims;

Identify risks early and implement mitigation measures;

Technical Oversight

Oversee MV equipment installation (switch gear, transformers, protection systems);

Supervise grounding, bonding, trenching, duct banks, and foundations activities;

Manage solar PV installation (racking, modules, inverters, DC and AC systems);

Oversee BESS installation (containers, PCS, transformers, fire protection, controls);

Support testing, commissioning, and energization activities;

Stakeholder & Utility Coordination

Act as primary on‑site point of contact with clients, utilities, and authorities;

Coordinate with utilities such as Hydro One and local distribution companies;

Manage ESA inspections, permits, and close‑out documentation;

Lead site meetings and issue clear construction reports;

Quality & Compliance

Implement project‑specific Quality Plans;

Conduct inspections, deficiency tracking, and punch lists;

Ensure compliance with OESC, CSA, IEEE, IEC standards, and utility standards and project specifications;

Ensure proper documentation for as‑built drawings and turnover packages.

Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Construction Engineering (or equivalent);

Minimum 3‑5 years of construction experience in MV substations, Solar PV (rooftop and ground‑mount), Battery Energy Storage Systems;

Strong field experience in industrial, commercial, and utility‑scale projects;

Proven experience managing multiple contractors and trades;

Solid understanding of construction sequencing and site logistics.
