Senior Project Manager – Ground-Up ICI Construction

Location: Mississauga, ON
Compensation: $180K - $220K

About the Opportunity

Our client is a well-established construction firm with a strong track record of delivering ground-up Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial (ICI) projects across the GTA. They are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their growing team and oversee the successful delivery of ground-up construction projects from preconstruction through to completion.

This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with strong project management experience who is comfortable overseeing budgets, schedules, contracts, consultants, subcontractors, and client relationships throughout all phases of a project.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing ground-up commercial, industrial, institutional, warehouse, manufacturing, or similar ICI construction projects and be capable of leading multiple stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and successful delivery of ground-up ICI construction projects. Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing projects from preconstruction and mobilization through to completion, occupancy, and closeout

  • Overseeing project budgets, schedules, contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation

  • Working closely with site teams and Superintendents to ensure field operations align with project objectives

  • Coordinating with clients, consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders

  • Developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules, milestones, and critical path activities

  • Managing subcontractor procurement, tendering, award, and contract administration

  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and construction documents

  • Identifying project risks, delays, cost impacts, constructability concerns, and potential issues proactively

  • Leading project meetings and preparing progress reports

  • Tracking project costs, forecasts, invoices, and overall financial performance

  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, building codes, and project requirements

  • Supporting permit coordination, inspections, consultant reviews, occupancy requirements, and project turnover

  • Managing deficiencies, closeout documentation, warranties, and final handover

Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring proven experience managing ground-up ICI construction projects and working within a collaborative project environment.

Ideal qualifications include:

  • 8+ years of experience in construction project management

  • Proven experience managing ground-up ICI construction projects

  • Experience with commercial, industrial, institutional, warehouse, manufacturing, or similar developments

  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, and cost control

  • Ability to manage subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and client relationships effectively

  • Strong understanding of construction processes, drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and project documentation

  • Experience coordinating with various project stakeholders throughout the construction lifecycle

  • Strong financial acumen, including forecasting, budgeting, change management, and cost control

  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency with construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office

  • A diploma or degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field is considered an asset
