• Analyze and interpret project plans, specifications, and documentation to understand scope and estimate submission requirements
• Assemble estimates for pre-construction, construction management, design-build, and stipulated sum projects
• Lead quantity take-offs for electrical systems using digital estimating software
• Develop detailed electrical estimates, cost breakdowns, scope matrices, estimate criteria, exclusions, and clarifications
• Oversee prequalification submissions, RFQs, and RFIs
• Participate in documentation reviews and value engineering proposals
• Organize and lead site walks and pre-bid meetings with subtrades
• Lead teams through bid processes under pressure
• Organize and level subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Assist with buy-out processes, flagging concerns and coordinating risk accommodations
• Identify risks related to project requirements, site, schedule, lead times, and market conditions
• Assist with site logistics, project schedules, critical paths, milestones, and completion timelines
• Assist in costing Change Orders and Change Directives
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
• Maintain databases of labor rates, material pricing, and project costs
• Compile historical data and summary reports for future estimates
• Develop project updates, bid packages, and estimating documents
• Maintain working-document files supporting estimating figures
• Monitor conceptual estimates against actual cost data
• Develop less experienced estimators through teaching, training, and guidance
• Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor
- Construction related degree/diploma
- Eng., PQS, GSC, CET and LEED Accreditations are assets
- Over ten years of combined field and estimating experience
- Design-build experience and proficiency in a variety of general procurement methods
- Estimating or field experience in Data Centers, Advanced Manufacturing and Laboratories is an asset
- Ability to create and modify electrical estimates using Accubid software
- Working knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain relationships
- Attention to detail and ability to work effectively and accurately in time-sensitive situations within a team
- Ability to calculate mathematical extensions and read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and cost coding systems
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and contract documents
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrates expertise in electrical estimating, project management, and risk assessment, with a strong ability to lead teams and maintain stakeholder relationships. Proficient in using digital estimating software and interpreting construction documents to deliver accurate and timely estimates.
